Abstract. Many of today’s contributions to historical sociology represent significant milestones achieved also through a critical integration of Weber’s nomothetic model. From this perspective, the present essay identifies two major solitary thinkers, both heirs to the older historical culture of Romantic Europe: Oswald Spengler and Antonio Labriola. Their thought may be examined in an opposing yet complementary fashion with regard to the theoretical reflection on the epistemology of historical sociology.
Keywords: Nomological sciences; Romanticism; Destiny; Historical materialism; Labriola Antonio
Abstract.
